Acting and Auditioning for the Camera / Edge 101
Class Details: 4 part / weeks, 3 hours each class, 8 participants

Description: This course aims to remedy this issue and to teach participants the many logistics, tips, and tricks to acting for the camera, alongside the skills they'll need to make high quality self tapes for their auditions. The course takes place over four weeks where participants of this course will learn the etiquette, best practices, and tools to successfully interpret, and audition for on-camera roles. The course is small to ensure that each participant is given individualized attention and feedback, and gets to work on a new and personalized script each week. Students will leave the course with a toolbox full of techniques with which to approach their future auditions, and 2 on-camera auditions that they can use to market themselves as technically proficient actors in whatever medium they choose.
Pop Up Classes
Edge of the Sky is once again offering pop up on camera acting classes/ workshops. Participants will work with industry professionals to analyze, explore, and record scenes that they can feel comfortable sending to an agent or casting director, they'll also leave with a greater understanding of script analysis and how to approach self tapes/ on camera work.
Each pop up runs for 2 hours 15 minutes and provides attendees with the opportunity to record 2 scenes, OR alternatively 1 scene and a song. Contact us to find out pricing, and when our next pop up session is!

Description: Need to make a great impression for your upcoming audition. Come record your self tape in our studio space. We provide a comfortable atmosphere set up with professional lighting and backdrops. We offer a 60 minute session with a professional reader / camera operator, as well as a quick turnover editing and sending your tape to either you or your agency.

Over time they have noticed a pattern of talented and unique students who have succeeded in theatre and on stage, but seem to slip through the cracks when they transition their skills to on-camera performance. This course aims to remedy this issue and to teach participants the many logistics, tips, and tricks to acting for the camera, alongside the skills they'll need to make high quality self tapes for their auditions. Description: In the previous course of 101, actors practised the basics and technical conventions of auditioning and self-taping, audition etiquette, and how to put their best foot forward when attempting to tackle scenes for the camera. Now we ask the question, “who are you?” In this course, Acting and Auditioning for the Camera: 201, presented by Edge of the Sky, we will attempt to answer this question and explore how it pertains to an actor's performance on screen. In this next evolution of 201, actors will dive deep into the practices of focused technique, authentic presence, inner life, and explore the power of their own unique vulnerability. Students will also learn about what it means to be “on set”; what to expect and etiquette. Acting and Auditioning for the Camera 201 is an intermediate level acting course for actors who wish to hone their craft and can be taken multiple times. This course will guide actors to unlock their potential and supply them with the tools to hone their own unique acting capabilities.
Intro to Animated and Commercial Voice Over

Description: This four part workshop with Edge of the Sky aims to open up a whole new world of acting and auditioning possibilities in the commercial and animated voice community. Voice work is an incredible way to broaden your skills, and hiring potential as an actor, it's also Toronto's only pandemic proof acting job, plus, it's a lot of fun. Over four weeks, you will gain an introduction to the ins and outs of the commercial and animation voice industry. We'll go over finding and developing a character, how to make choices that can wow an audition panel, and of course, the etiquettes, tips, and tricks for self-taping, in-person auditions, and recording in the booth. The class is designed to be responsive to the skill set and personalities of it’s participants, and we’ll work together to create scripts, characters, and interpretations that you can be proud of.
